Fortescue Metals contract in WA

Print EmailPosted on 23 January, 2009 in Stornoway Water News

Stornoway Water has recently supplied two (2) Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) for the Fortescue Metals Group Heng Shan Project in W.A.

Stornoway installed and commissioned AQEO Membrane Bioreactors (MBR) that produce Class ‘A’ recycled water.

One plant is designed to service a 1,000 person camp and the other for a 500 person camp that is planned to be expanded to 1,000 persons in the first quarter of 2009.

The plants were manufactured at the Stornoway facility in Brisbane on a very tight delivery schedule to meet the client’s requirements for start–up in January 2009.

Both plants had to meet a strict specification including:
• Must be
o Transportable
o Expandable / modular
o Factory tested prior to installation
• Easy to operate and maintain
• Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) design
• High quality effluent for maximum reuse options
• Proven design and performance at other mine sites

The success in securing this business follows the recent supply of two (2) Class ‘A’ STP’s to the Rio Tinto Mesa ‘A’ Iron Ore project in the Pilbara.
