Stornoway Water has designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned an AQEO Potable Water Treatment Plant and an AQEO Sewage Treatment Plant for the RAAF/RMAF base upgrade in Malaysia.

The Stornoway AQEO treatment plants were selected by The Australian Defence Force following a recommendation by Kane Constructions and their specialist consultant firm after a thorough investigation of domestic and international companies to meet their unique technical and logistical requirements.

Stornoway Water also provided additional engineering design assistance to the client for the installation of above ground concrete tanks for the wastewater treatment plant’s process requirements. The concrete tank options provides a robust solution with a longer design life than traditional steel panel tanks or industrial grade polyethylene tanks normally installed with packaged treatment systems.

The AQEO Potable Water Treatment Plant was designed and supplied as a steel skid based system that was installed in a purpose built building at the base.

Stornoway supplied:

The plants had to meet strict specifications including:

On-going Operations and Maintenance

In addition to the supply of the plants, Stornoway has been engaged to provide a minimum of two (2) years of Operations and Maintenance for the plants. This involved a thorough investigation by Stornoway of a number of suitably qualified local contractors.

Once selected the local contractor assisted Stornoway Technicians with installation and commissioning duties whilst participating in full training on the process design and operations and maintenance requirements for each of the plants. The local contractor will perform daily checks on the plants as per Stornoway procedures and carry our minor maintenance duties as required. Water sampling, co-ordination of laboratory analysis testing, replenishment of chemicals etc for each plant will also form part of their daily and weekly duties.

As part of the Operations and Maintenance contract, Stornoway Technicians from Australia will return to site every 3 months for a full plant service.
