Supporting Eagle Point Road upgrade
Posted on 25 May, 2011 in Stornoway Quarrying News
3000 tonnes of locally produced gravel will pave the way for an upgrade of Eagle Point Road.
Stornoway is providing the gravel at no cost to Latrobe Council over the next 5 years to support the road upgrade.
As well as providing residential access, Eagle Point Road also serves as the access road to Stornoway’s Bakers Beach plant.
Stornoway has operated a quarry at Breadalbane for over 20 years and acquired the Bakers Beach site in 2009. The plant now produces high quality bagged and bulk sand, decorative rock and stone for retail and wholesale markets.
Managing Director, Tim Gardner, said that Stornoway is proud to support the project which has already seen 1600 tonnes laid to start the upgrade works.
“We’ll continue to supply gravel over the next 5 years to ensure the road condition is maintained. This represents an investment of around $30,000 from Stornoway which we’re happy to contribute to support the local council and the community.”
Latrobe Council Mayor, Mike Gaffney, said that it was greatly appreciated when businesses like Stornoway invested in these projects in collaboration with the council and residents to provide a real benefit.
