River stone

Beautiful and versatile river stone

Stornoway’s Mersey Lea is a glacial river stone washed down from the mountains of Tasmania’s north to an old flood plain in northern Tasmania. The stone is extracted from this flood plain after the topsoil is removed. Once the mining process is completed, the land is fully rehabilitated with the removed topsoil so it can continue to be used as farm land.

Our river stone is available in a variety of sizes from small grade through to large rocks. They make a beautiful addition to any garden and are particularly suited to water features, which brings out the deep brown colouring in the rocks.

The finer grade of stone and the deep, rich colouring also makes it perfect for concrete drive and path aggregate.
