Aqeo® RBC

Stornoway Water has become one of Australia’s leading manufacturer and supplier of sewage treatment and water treatment plants by providing reliable, transportable, expandable systems at competitive prices.

As well as our state of the art Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) Class A/A+ and Activated Sludge Sewage Treatment Plants, Stornoway can also provide AQEO® Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) Sewage Treatment Plants for lower capacity installations requiring Class ‘A’ or Class ‘B’ recycled water.

Delivering a fully integrated and transportable solution.

High or low capacity – RBC can handle all
AQEO® RBC plants are not affected in their operation when, over periods of hours or days, the influent may fall to very low rates, or over periods of weeks or months when only part of the designed capacity is handled by the plant. When normal loads are applied full capacity will be achieved almost immediately. The only proviso throughout is that the discs are kept turning and that the troughs are kept full of water.
AQEO® RBC plants are therefore particularly suited for treating the wastewater from caravan parks, holiday homes or any other place of residence where the population is liable to fluctuate considerably.

Septic tank safe
The AQEO® RBC system operates satisfactorily off septic tank effluent and can therefore be connected directly to existing septic tank systems. The RBC system only needs desludging approximately every 12 months and not weekly as with the activated sludge plants. It is normal procedure that the local authority undertakes desludging by vacuum tanker. Continuous sludge odours are thus eliminated with this system.

Low power consumption
AQEO® RBC rotors rotate at approximately 5 rpm and extremely low power consumption is experienced in these plants. They are therefore most economical to operate. Since the discs in the system are normally fully balanced, the power required to move the discs slowly through water is generally about $1 for 150 persons per day.

Low operator running costs
Due to the simplicity of AQEO® RBC plants, and due to the fact that the plant is self-compensating to flow variations, no full time attendant is required for this plant, and running costs are further reduced. As AQEO® RBC plants operate at slow speeds, the maintenance of these plants is minimal, and the only attention required is the periodic lubrication of the rotor bearings.
